Lobster Cove Description:
Maine has an abundant supply of down-home seafood eateries---the sort that promise local color but instead crawl with tourists. Such is the case at Lobster Cove, with its large and diverse menu that begets large crowds, especially in the summer. The seafood is fresh---everything from mussels and clams to haddock and tuna is delivered daily by local fishermen---but you'll get just the basics, including the obligatory steamed bivalves, baked stuffed lobster and an entire section of the menu dedicated to the deep-fryer. For non-fish-eaters, there are myriad salads, beef and chicken dishes, and sandwiches, but nothing stands out as extraordinary. Mediocre food aside, the view is spectacular---especially if you sit upstairs near the bar---and proves that the best Maine has to offer is Maine itself.
