Review :
I've been eating at the Juegdschlass for many years and have seen it develop from a fairly out of the way café-bistro to an accomplished and pleasant restaurant whilst maintaining its charm as a down to earth Luxembourgish establishment. The place itself is set in the woods, off the beaten track and for a newcomer relatively difficult to find, but well worth the effort. As the name suggests it is in the style of an old hunting lodge and overlooks one of Luxembourg’s many beautiful valleys. The outside eating area in the good weather is certainly one of Luxembourg’s finest. The food is good and consistent ranging from traditional fayre to more French and German food. A dish of the day is generally provided and gives good value for money. The Juegdschlass provides the best outlet for Bitburger beer in town. (Maybe you’ve guessed that I’m speaking from delighted experience). It is served with care and respect, and is an absolute must for the beer drinker. The wine list is extensive, both local wine (which is another must for the newcomer) and wines from other countries and regions. Service is professional and friendly, without being over familiar. The mark of a good restaurant is a recognisable and loyal staff, both of which are to be found here. Always a popular place, it is a good idea to book in advance. There is a large car park which is often full (local parking practices can be infuriating), but there is parking just outside under the shade of the trees.
