Lynn's Paradise Cafe Description:
Hard to believe there's any stuff left for flea market shelves when you walk into Lynn's. Two life-size synthetic trees dominate the dining room, and the "leaves" (which may be tea bags or plastic Easter eggs) change with the seasons. Rubber toys and mismatched salt-and-pepper shakers grace the tables. All this serves as the setting for a menu of playful comfort food. The café is known for big portions, so omelets, pancakes and biscuits 'n' gravy---breakfast is served all day---tend to escape the edges of their plates. Lunch sandwiches include a BLT made with fried green tomatoes and a juicy half-pound burger. This version of the classic Kentucky Hot Brown features roasted turkey breast on sourdough bread, with mornay sauce, bacon, tomato, Monterey Jack and cheddar cheeses. Dinner options include roast turkey with all the trimmings, Mom's meatloaf, country ham steak, fried catfish and the signature walnut-crusted chicken. A Southern-inspired menu option is pecan-crusted chicken (for the walnut-averse) doused in a Woodford Reserve bourbon-mustard-maple cream sauce. There's a gift shop in case you are inspired to take home a kitschy décor accent, such as a plastic shower curtain sporting images of bacon.
