Father's Office Description:
This second edition of the popular Santa Monica burgers-and-brews spot, located in the Helms Bakery building on the edge of Culver City, relieves some of the pent-up demand for what is routinely regarded as the best burger in L.A. The legendary "Office Burger" from chef-owner Sang Yoon---dry-aged beef topped with Maytag Blue and Gruyère cheeses, caramelized onions, bacon compote and arugula---doesn't deviate from the version served at the original location, nor does the quality of sweet potato fries, served in a miniature shopping cart and accompanied by garlicky aïoli (don't even think of asking for ketchup, which is taboo in either FO location). You can also find some Spanish-inspired tapas and a highly respectable steak frites here, not to mention a wide selection of domestic and international microbrews. This location of Father's Office is larger and flashier than the dive-bar original, but the vibe is consistent---and it can be just as crowded.
