Vermont Description:
Vermont's dining room combines a sultry Moorish décor with modern sensibilities, resulting in a candlelit space that's hip, dark and romantic. A sexy, modern bar nicely complements the restaurant. The clientele is an enjoyable mix of button-down business types, old-time Los Feliz locals and artistic Eastsiders. The moderately priced food, overseen by executive chef Stephane Beaucamp, is always solid here, which explains much of the attraction. Dinner appetizers may include a Dungeness crab salad with avocado, beets, mâche, crème fraîche and lime or heirloom tomatoes and burrata with white balsamic vinaigrette. Entrées might range from a New York strip, artichokes-potato hash and black olives aïoli to barbecued lamb skewers or wild Alaskan halibut with farro, black rice, green garlic, pea shoots and tangerine. The wine list is short but offers some interesting picks at very reasonable prices.
