The Grill on Hollywood Description:
The Grill on the Alley, a Beverly Hills institution, now has a second home in what many industry insiders hope is the future hotspot of America's entertainment industry, Hollywood & Highland. The restaurant, adjacent to the Kodak Theater---home of the Oscars---offers the same dark, opulent bar-and-grill interiors and snappy service as the original; as a matter of fact, the two locations share many staff members. The menu is big on American classics like Cobb and Shrimp Louie salads, heavy-duty burgers, steaks and chops. Although the basic menu is the same as the Beverly Hills location, a lengthy list of daily specials, such as a spinach and pear salad with fried Brie, distinguish this glitzy dining spot from the original. Conscious of its tourist-friendly locale, the Hollywood & Highland location offers a wide patio of outdoor tables overlooking the whole H & H scene from a top floor balcony.

What's the big deal about the Grill at Hollywood Highland?
Our server let our dishes pile up on the table. Also, where are the busboys? When you clear dishes from the table, don't stack them on the table first and then take them off. I mean, I'm paying 8 bucks for a glass of wine, bozo.
My trout almandine was a sliver of moist trout HEAPED with a candy like topcoat of a chopped salty sweety almond crumble. (A layer of almond compote almost as thick as the fish and in some places, thicker!) I had to scoop off the topcoat crumble to get to the thin fish underneath. With a thimble of white wine sauce with it? Um, no.
The crab cake appetizer with beurre blanc was... quite good I guess. Fresh crab lightly pressed in a simple seared cake formation. But, what. What about it was so knock my socks off that I want to come back here? Was this experience so quintessentially classic that it screamed "traditional Continental Cuisine? "Um, okay, I guess. Sort of.
I think I spent too much on trout, broccoli, one glass of wine and espresso. I guess I'm just jaded, but where's the value? This restaurant is acceptable, I guess, but with competition being what it is today, what's such a good deal about The Grill at Hollywood and Highland? I felt like I got ripped off, but everything was executed so decently, I couldn't complain.
