A great local place to eat, drink coffee or tea and just people watch. Order-at-the-counter. Gets very crowded on weekends (but has a mist-er for hot mornings!).
A homey interior and umbrella-shaded brick courtyard with lots of cozy nooks and crannies greet Los Feliz locals looking for some of the best breakfasts around, which include shrimp and lobster omelets with tarragon-spiked hollandaise, smoked salmon quesadillas and crab cakes Benedict. Grilled panini, huge salads and kalamata- and rosemary-flavored lamb burgers are popular choices at lunch, while dinner might consist of beer-battered fish 'n' chips with pineapple tartar sauce. The cakes, cupcakes and cookies have a deserved reputation for quality and inventiveness. There's a good selection of beers and wines by the glass, which might be expected since the adjoining Village Gourmet specializes in retail sales of wine, cheeses and take-away treats. This bungalow eatery is one of those places that reflect the charm of this artsy neighborhood.
