Milky Way Description:
One of L.A.'s most famous Jewish mothers, Leah Adler, was pleasing diners long before son Steven Spielberg got into show biz. Adler shepherds an eclectic mix of Asian and Italian cuisine, sometimes on the same plate and always Kosher. Golden potato pancakes with applesauce and sour cream and salmon roulades---Norwegian salmon layered with cream cheese and spinach, served with toasted pine nuts and béarnaise sauce---highlight the mélange. There's also a major emphasis on fresh vegetables, including linguine with snow peas, artichoke hearts, plum tomatoes and shallots tossed with garlic, herbs and olive oil. For dessert, order "luscious" carrot cake or "devilishly rich" chocolate mousse pie.
