A seafood-heavy menu is the focus at this Century City restaurant, while the elegant, modern décor includes laminated blonde wood ceiling beams, vaguely Art Deco-esque lighting fixtures, a glass block-faced bar, and comfortable booths. Starters include a healthy-size shrimp cocktail, a savory ahi carpaccio and a tasty smoked trout spread. Salmon and New Zealand grouper are modestly seasoned and grilled to keep their moistness; crab cakes are served with a pommery mustard sauce while red snapper is paired with a Louisiana-inspired shrimp zydeco sauce. Carnivores needn't despair, as short ribs, filet mignon and rib-eye are also available. From the compact dessert list, we recommend the house hot fudge sundae. The cheerful, efficient service is another reason to appreciate Gulfstream.
