LA Market Description:
Kerry Simon, the "Rock n' Roll Chef" behind SIMON L.A. at the Sofitel Los Angeles, has made his way downtown with this all-day-dining restaurant in the massive JW Marriott Hotel Los Angeles at L.A. Live. Guests can choose to dine in the open area near the lobby or the more private rear dining room. LA Market attracts a cosmopolitan crowd, but Simon's menu doesn't aspire to pretentions---he offers dishes featuring farmers market ingredients and comfort food classics like meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Global flavors come into play on the menu as well, from starters such as fried calamari with ponzu sauce to mains like the lamb tagine with couscous and cucumber yogurt. Another Simon signature---the junk food platter---appears on the dessert menu, but we prefer the grasshopper pie with mint chocolate chip ice cream or the twice baked banana bread with spiked caramel, malted brown sugar crunch and bourbon ice cream.
