The Yard House Description:
This, the original location of what has become a national chain, is a cavernous bar and chophouse. The huge, elliptical bar boasts the world's largest selection of draft beers---over 250 taps---which originally filled signature yard-long flasks. The burgers are overrated, but the endless menu ranges from sushi rolls to fried calamari to decent crab cakes for starters. Entrées include jerk chicken, potpie, mac 'n' cheese, pastas, crab-crusted swordfish and respectable steaks---plus pizzas, salads and sandwiches. Watch out, though, for the Asian-inspired specialties, which tend to cater to the American sweet tooth. But when the appropriate time for something sweet arrives, finish with a draft beer float---simultaneously simple and decadent. Note that on Friday or Saturday nights, the Yard House is a party scene requiring up to an hour wait for a seat---even at the bar. Most patrons are happy to oblige, lest they miss out on the buzzing crowd, classic rock music and harbor-front ambience---if, that is, they're lucky enough to score a patio table.
