Madison Description:
This lavish restaurant is located in the lobby of a beautifully restored historic building. The interior features a high ceiling, comfy booths and an antique mahogany bar. The focus has shifted from California steakhouse fare to contemporary American under the direction of chef Wendy Jacobs. Lunch starters include white bean and roasted garlic dip with homemade pita chips, and a charcuterie plate for two. Then settle into the deconstructed Waldorf salad with grilled free-range chicken (it can be ordered sans chicken), or the ponzu-glazed market fresh fish served with Asian-style cold noodle and vegetable salad. Mac 'n' cheese gets a fresh spin with the use of conchigliette pasta, mascarpone and cacciocavallo cheeses and sautéed exotic mushrooms. Entrées are a meat-lovers paradise; choose from Delmonico steak, Madison porterhouse and filet mignon. Others can choose Sonoma duck two-ways (sautéed and confit) or rack of lamb with Israeli couscous.
