The setting is grand, and like so many London restaurants was carved out of a former bank. So the space is airy and light, windows are large and it is decorated in rich, warm colours. The menu is classically based and wide enough to appeal all-around but it is well done with imaginative ingredients. The adventurous will appreciate tandoori monkfish and curry leaf risotto with spiced lobster emulsion, or perhaps a tandoori breast of guinea fowl with porcini mushroom masala. Desserts follow a similar path; try the "Indian" tiramisu, using coffee-infused biscuits with cardamom, or pistachio crème brûlée. The service is sophisticated, its expertise extending to proper handling of wines from the short, intelligent list. Set 4-course lunch £19.50; set meals £20-£58.
