Moro Description:
This coming together of Spanish and North African food gastronomically echoes Cordoba's cathedral built inside a great mosque. Tapas at the bar, perhaps with a glass of sherry, or at a table while choosing from the short, stimulating menu, are pure Spanish, with baba ghanouj, grilled chorizo, and sardines of the freshest, best order. On the main menu, Moorish influence shows in fruits and spices in such dishes as seared pork fillet with pomegranate molasses and deep-fried chickpeas and wood-roasted chicken with fiery harissa, fried potatoes and rocket. Char-grilling and cooking in the wood-burning oven produce both well rendered dishes and also a wonderful wafting smell to tickle the taste buds. From the tempting desserts list, chocolate and apricot tart are masterly, and rosewater and cardamom ice cream continue the exotic theme. The wine list is Spanish with a very respectable range of sherries. Service is courteous, efficient, but above all, knowledgeable. The only downside is the noise which can get considerable.
