Duke of Cambridge, The Description:
London's first organic pub (yep, that even includes the additive-free beers, such as Eco Warrior and Freedom lager) is the boast of this handsome Victorian conversion in Islington. There's a twice daily-changing blackboard menu from which you can order a starter of gazpacho or smoked sprats with beetroot, apple and watercress in winter. Summer might bring a sustainable fish with fresh delicate peas, broad beans, bacon and cider sauce and desserts like apricot cheesecake and lavender crème brûlée. The setting is simple, with wooden floors and mismatched chairs and tables; the staff is welcoming. Prices here are on the high side overall, but the Islington locals don't seem to mind.
