Daquise Description:
Still here, still serving the same classic fare, still the same muddled décor---we love it. It feels as if it's stuck in the 1950s, or even the 1930s. Daytime it's the place for elderly customers, coffee, tea and cakes; in the evening it's full of a huge mix tucking into home-style Polish cooking, presumably as mother did it. This is the place for those traditional Polish fillers, in rib-stickingly abundant portions: rich soups; herrings with apple, sour cream and gherkin mayonnaise; pancakes; marinated pork knuckle; Vienna schnitzel with---yes, of course---fried egg triumphantly on top. Help the digestion with one (or several) of the formidable vodkas. Don't miss it.
