Cibo Description:
Cibo opened in the vanguard of decent Italian cuisine. Film stars and fashionistas flocked, and you couldn't get a table. Competition has thinned the buzz (no bad thing), but the cooking remains resolutely good. Servings---on brightly coloured Mediterranean china---are generous. Seafood is beautifully treated here: baked monkfish with saffron and courgette flowers tastes as good as it looks; baby octopus stewed in wine and tomatoes very satisfying. Meat dishes are equally as notable; try the stewed pheasant and partridge with chestnuts for a winter treat. A zabaglione with figs and vanilla ice cream reveals toothsome layers of rich and light. It is a pretty, creamy-colored restaurant where eccentric art adorns the walls. Service is sweet and obliging. Set lunch Mon.-Fri. 2 courses £17.50; set lunch Sun. 2 courses £18.95, 3 courses £24.50.
