Bluebird Garage Description:
The main restaurant on the first floor is airy with a steel girder and glass roof adding light. The furniture is sophisticated and comfortable; warm chocolate browns and deep reds add warmth and the oval bar is as sexy a meeting place as ever. Mark Block continues with seasonal British ingredients, allowing the odd European twist to appear. Start with native dishes like the simple new season asparagus, West Country smoked salmon or a retro shellfish cocktail. Follow with cold poached trout with marsh samphire and cucumber salad, chicken and mushroom pie with cèpes or Saltmarsh lamb with peppers, basil and tapenade. Desserts veer between simple strawberries with thick cream to pineapple with lemon grass ice cream and black pepper. Or go really retro with a knickerbocker glory. The wine list is sassy, cosmopolitan and offers a decent range by the glass. The bar has a good cocktail menu and appealing bar food to soak up the seductive drinks. Set 2 course menu £15.50, 3 courses £18.50.
