Avenue Description:
The room is vast and white, enlivened with red banquettes, with a bar at the front that leads into the restaurant behind. It goes from being very noisy in the early evening to the odd dead time. It is a place that needs to be full to be thoroughly enjoyable. Since its inclusion in the large D and D London group, the menu has been simplified and hits the right spot. The kitchen concentrates on seasonal dishes---a summer pea and mint soup, followed by an herb-crusted roast pollock or chicken breast with courgettes and salsa verde. Desserts go traditional: crème brûlée, crumbles with custard. The wine list has also been simplified, offering a fair if small range. It's a good meeting place and the bar serves a range of small plates, plus a set menu: 2 courses £10, 3 courses £12. Set lunch and pre-theatre menu, 2 courses £19.50, 3 courses £22.50.
