Aburiya Raku Restaurant Description:
Vegas locals and visitors frequent this tiny, unassuming Japanese restaurant, which has become a late-night stop for even the toniest of Strip chefs. There's no sushi to be had here, as the affordable, small-plates menu focuses on dishes from a grill fired by true Japanese lump charcoal. Delicacies such as pork cheek and Kobe tendon are imparted with a subtle smoky flavor from the charcoal. More timid diners will be pleased to find more recognizable meats, such as ground chicken and duck breast, are on the menu as well. House-made tofu is silky and light, and a definite must for even the grizzliest of carnivores. A salad made with this tofu, fresh slices of tomatoes and seaweed is a first-rate Japanese take on caprese. Dress it with the delicate homemade soy sauce. Other inspired dishes include a foie gras-infused soup with fresh noodles for dipping, and desserts of green tea crème brûlée and, interestingly enough, one of the finest molten chocolate lava cakes around. A concise saké and wine list is offered, as well as affordably priced pitchers of Sapporo.
