Smith & Wollensky Description:
This three-story, freestanding replica of New York's steakhouse seats 600-plus in its versatile rooms. The sidewalk café is adjacent to the Strip, and open from lunch until late night. Wollensky's "famous" split pea soup is a favorite, as is the Maryland crab cakes appetizer. Among lunch entrées are the Wollensky's butcher burger with tomato-jalapeño relish, Vermont cheese, bacon and Cajun-spiced onions; ahi salad with fennel, arugula, radicchio, oranges and olives; and the lobster club sandwich with tomato, lettuce, avocado, bacon and chipotle mayonnaise. We like the yellowfin tuna burger with grilled red onion marmalade and ginger-wasabi mayonnaise. Lemon-basil chicken breast and grilled lamb chops are lunch and dinner winners. So are the grilled fish selections---halibut, swordfish and Atlantic salmon---served with garlic sautéed spinach and lemon gremolata. In addition to the classic dinner steaks, we recommend the veal rib chop and Cajun-marinated rib-eye. Among our favorite sides for two are the whipped potatoes and truffled macaroni and cheese. The all-American wine list nicely complements the cuisine. Save room for the carrot cake with walnuts and raisins layered with sweetened cream cheese.
