Peppermill Inn Description:
This 24-hour eatery screams Old Vegas---not the Rat Pack-era Las Vegas, but 1970s polyester-wearing Las Vegas, with its massive booths, mirrored ceiling, picture windows, twinkling cherry trees and royal blue, purple and red accents. Even the cocktail waitresses are decked out in halter-style, floor-length, black polyester gowns. The place served as a backdrop for the movie Casino---Robert De Niro and Sharon Stone sipped drinks around the cozy fire pit in the romantic lounge's secluded bar area. The menu offers standard fare---omelets, burgers, salads and sandwiches---but gives new meaning to the term super-sized. We like the hollandaise-drizzled poached eggs Florentine atop spinach, tomato, avocado, bacon and a bagel. Soup, mixed green salad or spinach salad precedes entrées such as chicken Marsala and Icelandic fish and chips. The flame-broiled 16-ounce porterhouse, New York and rib-eye steaks are served with sautéed mushrooms and fries or baked potato. Sundaes topped with a cloud of whipped cream and chopped nuts include the marshmallow delite and banana splits.
