Smoking area around the bar and non-smoking away from the bar. Expect to wait for a table at dinner time on many evenings especially the weekend.
Applebee's appeals to everyone: You can do lunch of a healthy salad or bring the tots for a barbecued riblets basket with a generous helping of crispy fries. Go for a lime, peach, strawberry or raspberry margarita at your table or the friendly pub-style bar. Despite this being a chain restaurant, there's a homey appeal about Applebee's. It likely has to do with the artifacts adorning the walls paying homage to nearby high schools' sports teams and to other hometown heroes. Go for the shareable starters such as Tuscan bread sticks topped with Italian cheeses served with marinara sauce for dipping. Try the crispy buttermilk shrimp served with garlic mashed potatoes. The signature chicken rollup is filled with Asian greens with almonds tossed in teriyaki sauce. The apple chimicheesecake---tart apples, almond toffee bits and creamy cheesecake wrapped in a tortilla and deep fried, served with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce---is worth the splurge.
