Okura Robata Grill & Sushi Bar Description:
Chef Kaoru Ishii oversees the three kitchens that fuel this La Quinta restaurant. A fusion kitchen produces such dishes as a surprising Serrano hamachi carpaccio and the toban yaki rib-eye with saké, soy and yuzu juice, made in a toban pot and brought to the table to complete its cooking. The sushi kitchen sends out crowd-pleasers like the crispy spicy tuna and the Dyno-mite roll with scallop. There are numerous sakés to choose from, as well as a decent wine selection. Desserts challenge preconceptions about Japanese last courses: try the silken green tea panna cotta. The ambience is elegant and the bar scene buzzing---not surprising, considering the range of martinis available. We particularly like the ginger Cosmo.
