This cozy bistro is always packed and guests will even wait for a space at the bar to dine and sip locally sourced cocktails. Mussels are a specialty here---try them with gooey blue cheese and salty bacon in a white wine cream. Or dip your fried oysters into a tangy chipotle mayo (they come with red-pepper relish, too). Carefully balancing New American and regional influences along with refinement and comfort, the menu abounds in simple but flavorful dishes like a porcini-crusted pork chop with mustard spätzle and duck confit-stuffed cabbage with cider-roasted apples. Desserts are likewise familiar and hearty---perhaps too much so, as they lack the entrées' zest. Still, despite the sour note the sweets leave, this is the spot for mingling with the local fooderati.
