Housed in a former pizza joint, this unpretentious Japanese restaurant draws the crowds for its high-quality, fresh yellowtail, mackerel, sweet shrimp, ahi and seasonal favorites. The maki rolls are authentic rather than trendy and often copied but rarely matched. If you're lucky, do grab one of the few stools at the sushi bar to watch true professionals produce artistic platters of some of the best sushi in town. The high-backed booths afford more privacy, but this is not the place to expect a quiet meal. Chopsticks replace silverware, and it's acceptable to slurp while navigating soba noodles out of the savory broth. For a break from Japanese classics, there's a short selection of Korean dishes on the menu as well as Japanese cooked dinners (try the unbeatable halibut teriyaki).
