There's a hefty dose of girl power behind this contemporary Arts District spot, which has built-in cred thanks to the owners' stints at Tizi Melloul and Tomboy. Exposed brick, big windows and warm tones give the space a lofty vibe, but the patio is the place to be when the weather is warm. The modern American menu is full of familiar favorites---none of them particularly out-there. From the get-go, we like the creamy goat cheese Wellington with fennel-infused sauce and the sweet heat of the crab cakes with citrus rémoulade and jalapeño jelly. And you've gotta love a place that serves respectably prepared duck breast with wild rice cakes and pan-seared chicken atop lemon-caper butter. Come on Wednesdays and Thursdays, when half-portions of pasta are half-price.
