Trevisio Restaurant Description:
The Texas Medical Center has a first-rate restaurant, but it could be our best-kept secret. Nary a table is filled at night, when the views of the twinkling lights of the buildings below dazzle through the massive windows and are even more stunning when you dine outside on the veranda. Lunch trade is in more stable condition, when high-ranking medical officials and doctors in scrubs relax amidst the cool, contemporary palette of blues accented with a tented ceiling and a sleek waterfall. Hardly hospital food, the kitchen serves up such outstanding fare as calamari cakes, fried polenta, duck ravioli and snapper smothered in garlic, onions and potatoes. Since veteran chef John Watt has taken over the kitchen, we've been impressed with the Italian accents on the menu, such as pappardelle with braised rabbit, and tender seared pork loin with prunes and spinach.
