Lavista Description:
Creative chef-owner Greg Gordon regularly wows guest with his ever-changing menu that boasts an affinity for Italian dishes---heavy on pasta and pizza---but also offers some pleasant surprises in comforting New American specials like braised lamb shank and grilled pork chops. The latter is also braised with onions and mushrooms in a hearty brandy broth. Grilled tuna is deftly prepared without overcooking, while pork tenderloin excites with its innovative crust of cinnamon, coffee and cumin. The gimmick here is a bring-your-own-bottle policy, with a small corking fee, and a liquor store is fortunately located right next door to the tiny strip-center café. Don't be surprised when a perky hostess pours your wine right there in the parking lot, which is also referred to as the lounge. The tiny indoor space with an open kitchen is trendy-chic with checkerboard floors, muted wall colors and hip, minimalist photography; but claustrophobics will want to steer clear. Desserts are also noteworthy, but don't expect an espresso on the side.
