La Griglia Description:
Since La Griglia passed from Tony Vallone to the Landry's Restaurant group, there have not been any major noticeable changes. A bland salad dressing or a less than vibrant pasta dish is the worst we have experienced. The ambience is still playful at this reliable Italian trattoria, which attracts a cadre of River Oaks patrons. This air of informality provides a welcome change of pace, as do lively wall murals and patrons' handprints in the entry. Even the menu is user-friendly. Seafood, veal, beef and chicken are approachable, yet inventively prepared. House favorites veal and wild boar chops are so tender that the meat falls off the bones. Flavor-infused mashed potatoes---garlic and Parmesan---provide the perfect accompaniment to such hearty meals. Also popular is the grilled snapper, topped with any number of in-season shellfish. You may be too full for dessert, but it is always fun to ogle the stunning cart stacked high with tantalizing treats.
