El Pueblito Place Description:
What was once a hole-in-the-wall eatery with tasty dishes from Guatemala and Mexico designed by owners Eduardo and Monica Lopez, has morphed into Houston's hottest tropical paradise since the couple turned a parking lot into a patio paradise with cabanas, banana trees, tiki torches and a rock waterfall. The food is still first-rate---the fresh fish dishes seasoned just so and the spicy blackened chicken are served in heaping portions, which you need to remember before filling up on the thick, homemade tortilla chips and pineapple salsa---but the ambience now matches the cuisine. Margaritas are a mainstay, but those with a resort taste order the cocoritas served in coconut shells with the requisite tiny umbrella. Latin ensembles and flamenco artists add to the food fiesta in the evenings.
