If the name rolls off your tongue with a bit of a giggle, you are not alone. When brought to Jay Leno's attention, he couldn't seem to get enough mileage out of repeating the name. All laughs aside, Crapitto's is a lovely old house with a main dining room lined with windows looking out onto a pleasant patio filled with umbrellas and shaded by live oaks. So yes, we head straight for the patio on pretty spring days. Owner John Crapitto cordially and successfully presides over the establishment, serving Italian food and some fine cuts of meat. A standout among these is the hefty signature 16-ounce veal chop beautifully grilled and served with a Roquefort butter sauce along with fine sides of Parmesan asparagus and garlic-mashed potatoes. Good starters include ample crab cakes---actually a meal in themselves---and tender calamari with a zesty marinara. Desserts are fine indulgences as well, including a massive Italian cream cake and a lemony cheesecake.
