Baba Yega Restaurant Description:
While the Victorian atmosphere is a substantial part of the draw, so is the something-for-everyone menu. It's long been known for its vegetarian fare and its simple appetizers of fruit and cheese, but the restaurant has branched out with a more inventive and, may we say, more current, menu. Starters like ceviche and grilled portobello mushrooms are welcomed, as are entrées like yellowfin tuna, grilled medium rare, and the red snapper topped with shrimp, mushrooms and green onions in a lemon-butter sauce. Baba Yega's unusually large selection of sandwiches and basic American cooking is still there, however, and it rarely disappoints. This kitchen turns out one of the best burgers in town, which is paired with the best potato salad in town, a dill version crunched up with just the right amount of celery. But if you can only abide by fries with that, these are steak-cut, with nicely crunchy crusts and no trace of grease.
