Whimsically adorned with painted paw prints, doggie bones and winged sheepdogs, this neighborhood joint draws an eclectic crowd for home-style comfort cooking. Doctor Gale's meatloaf is served with generous scoops of garlic mashed potatoes. Big burgers abound---beef, buffalo, turkey and vegetarian---served with crispy fries. The creamy chicken salad sandwich with pesto and artichoke hearts is a good number and the lasagna begs to be shared. For dessert, try a heartwarming version of mom's apple pie. The waitstaff is full of personality and teamwork-efficiency, so as bustling and cramped as this place can get, the service is usually pretty fast.
