Hiroshi Eurasion Tapas Description:
Hiroshi Fukui, the former star of L'Uraku, teamed up with restaurateur D.K. Kodama (Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar, D.K. Steak House) to open a spot with his own name on the marquee. Fukui is one of the Hawaii Regional cuisine posse, and his restaurant rightly takes its place in the inner circle---Chef Mavro, Roy's, Alan Wong's Restaurant, 3660 On the Rise, Hoku's. The menu takes the small-plate route, so be prepared to order a parade of delicate, delicious constructions, from a deconstructed Caesar salad (dip leaves of baby romaine in dressing foam) to the tender braised veal cheeks in a rich red wine sauce. Master sommelier Chuck Furuya has designed the perfect wine list to go with the dishes---try the flight of whites. The food and drink say destination dining, but this is Hawaii so you're as likely to see customers dressed in shorts and T-shirts as a Marc Jacobs ensemble. But Restaurant Row is enough of a ghetto, take the high road---spruce yourself up for your flavor journey.
