Chai's Island Bistro Description:
Chai Chaowasaree began experimenting with Hawaii Regional-influenced Thai dishes at his Singha Thai Cuisine restaurant. As his Singha patrons resisted food that wasn't classic Thai, he opened this fine little bistro as a creative outlet. There are a few Thai-style dishes here, like Chai's classic naked shrimp salad, but most of the dishes are innovative: seared ahi sandwiched between crisp potato layers with a ponzu demi-glace sauce, veal chops sautéed in black pepper and garlic, tiger prawns wrapped in kataifi and macadamia nuts, grilled Atlantic salmon with truffle Madeira sauce. The food is fresh and fun. The outdoor lanai, filled with large umbrellas and plants, seems like a refuge miles away from its actual location. To top it all, you can see the best contemporary Island musicians performing here, for the price of dinner.
