Gianmarco's Restaurant Description:
Immediately upon entering GianMarco's it is evident diners are in for a treat. The crowd, even on a weeknight, might be a tip-off, but the amazing aromas drifting from the kitchen confirm the pleasures ahead. Giani and Marco Respinto grew up in their father's restaurant in New York, and when they opened this charming bistro, Giovanni came out of retirement to work with them. Simple dishes such as lasagna or grilled sausages and peppers become special here. Veal Parmesan sports a puffy cloud of cheese and rests on a mound of spaghetti with sauce you'll want dab up with bread. Must-do starters include a four cheese torta with sun-dried tomatoes and pesto and the pistachio-crusted oysters on crostini with tomato salsa. Entrées include a pan roast of chicken, shrimp, clams and sausage with white beans and rapini and porcini-dusted filet mignon with Parmesan-sage fried potatoes and shrimp scampi over fried green tomatoes. Chocolate tartufo or zabaglione with seasonal fruit provides a sweet finale. The thoughtfully selected wine list includes wines from Italy and around the world, including some California cult wines, all very fairly priced.
