Galanga Thai Fusion Description:
With its bright green paint, traditional Thai art and wall-mounted bud vases, Galanga is an unexpectedly pleasant Thai café, given its narrow dimensions. Starters include traditional items like chicken satay, as well as more contemporary creations like a Thai rendition of Buffalo chicken wings. Among the salads is som tum, a bowl of noodle-like shredded papaya with garlic, tamarind juice, lime, palm sugar and a liberal dose of chili. Both sweet and hot, it is one of the best dishes on the long menu. Curries---red with roasted duck, yellow, green, and silky masaman---are reliable, and fusion specialties include deep-fried fish filet with spicy basil sauce, Thai burritos, and salmon in creamy panang curry. For dessert, go for sticky rice with mango or a cranberry-chocolate wonton with vanilla ice cream.
