O-Bar Description:
Designers Thomas Schoos and Michael Berman (L.A.'s Koi and N.Y.'s Tao) created a whimsical yet sexy environment for O-Bar, their very own restaurant. The place boasts cabana-like booths draped in sheer fabric (great for celebrations), a bar conspicuous for its dazzling crown of white steel reeds, unique hand-crafted mobile-like chandeliers, and a view of a serene fire-lit courtyard. The imaginative design seems to beg an equally avant-garde menu, but the inventive takes on American comfort food work surprisingly well. Familiar homespun dishes are given some exciting contemporary touches, such as the warm goat cheese tartlet, the short rib "pot roast," unlike anything mom used to make, and pistachio-crusted yellowtail. The massive chocolate chip cookie, served warm in an iron skillet, is possibly the definitive version of this old American favorite.

What a perfect evening! I went to O Bar with my boyfriend and we got there a little early for our reservation, but that was no problem. The hostess was friendly and promptly seated us. Our server was very attentive and recommended some great specialty drinks which we enjoyed more than one of. The decor was beautiful and the food was excellent. For dessert we each got an O Cookie, yum! As we were leaving, the server and the hostess each thanked us by name. We will definitely be back.
