Jitlada Description:
Family owned since the 1980s, this cozy little restaurant in a tacky East Hollywood mini-mall stays true to authentic Thai cooking. In 2007, Jitlada welcomed a quartet of different owners: Sariya and Jazz Singsanong and Aun and Sugar Sungkamee. The café also received a boost from chef Tui Sungkamee, who refined the menu to include southern Thai specialties like steamed green mussels in spicy lemon grass broth, deep-fried whole sea bass showered in garlic, and fried soft-shell crab in fiery gravy. For longtime fans of Jitlada, there are still more basic items like pad see iew, satay and fried rice dishes. Spice levels may be adjusted to your liking, and prices are a bargain.
