Koji Description:
Known as much for the fun, flirty cocktail menu that lures an after-hours crowd as for its contemporary Asian cuisine, Koji sacrifices a lot in the pursuit of being hip and trendy. It's not that the fare itself suffers---simple grilled items like the extensive array of yakitori and the signature beef in a garlic-butter sauce are especially worthwhile. Rather, it's the very ambience it cultivates that's problematic. Routinely cramped, alternately too dark and too garishly neon-lit, Koji feels more like a big-city nightclub---with harried service to match---than a relaxing place for a nice meal. By all means stop in for a quick bite during a night on the town, but skip dinner---unless you like it sandwiched between hook-up attempts.
