Black & Tan Grille Description:
Housed in the historic Bellin Building, built in 1915 and considered the first small skyscraper north of Milwaukee at that time, the Black & Tan Grille is known not only for its setting---though the views of both the Fox River and downtown Green Bay make it unique---but also for its American cuisine. On the first floor, patrons can enjoy wine, cocktails and martinis in the lounge and bar area as well as dine on such dishes as beef bourguignon and ale-battered Cajun crawfish with aïoli. The main dining room, located on the second floor, offers such dishes as paella chicken roulade served over saffron-scented rice with a sofrito tomato sauce and blue mussels, and the Black & Tan center cut choice tenderloin with an oven-bronzed Gorgonzola brochette topped with caramelized onions. Owners Ann and Greg DeCleene look for a balance in choosing wines for their extensive wine list, with varieties from many regions and across a broad spectrum. There's live jazz on Fridays and Saturdays. As an added treat, ride the elevator up to the penthouse on the ninth floor, which is reserved for private parties and events. The Bellin Building has one of only four manual elevators in the country.
