The Butcher's Market Description:
This quality restaurant-deprived neighborhood hungrily waited for Tom McDaniel to open his small market in 2008. Once he did, it became an outpost not only for fresh and cured meats (we recommend the huge smoked pork chops), but also for fresh vegetables, homemade soups, and barbecue on the weekends, among other goodies. That's when the smoker outside starts to perfume the neighborhood with the aromas of smoking meat, both ribs and pulled pork. Sandwiches are all made to order, and the barbecue sandwich is one of the city's largest and best-tasting. The ribs are glorious, tender but not mushy, with that tell-tale pinkness that confirms their having been smoked (not oven cooked). Typically, they'll come with McDaniel's very good barbecue sauce slathered thereon, but they may be ordered with sauce on the side if you wish. A good number of tables inside allow for comfortable on-premise munching.
