Meiwah Restaurant Description:
Good Chinese food, like good wine, is often hard to find. But Meiwah, especially at its second location, hits its stride with an inclusive arrangement of outstanding and unusual Chinese dishes. We were astonished to find such a selection so far uptown and bordering the 'burbs, where people want tamed-down eats. Instead, Meiwah's kitchen ventures into some uncharted territory with such memorable dishes as the jumbo crispy shrimp with salt and pepper, the glorious crispy shredded beef, and the chilled sesame noodles. We wish that appetites and waistlines could expand endlessly, for a Meiwah meal would also include the Mongolian lamb, the Shanghai bok choy with black mushrooms, and Cantonese-style lobster, with a follow-up of duck strips in garlic sauce. So much for our diet. Plan on making reservations, as this place gets very crowded very fast. Fortunately, it also offers a charming terrace, a bonus for alfresco dining days.
