In local parlance, a square grouper is a bale of marijuana floating in the sea or washing up on shore, which fishermen occasionally "caught" in their traps. Taking liberties with the term, this restaurant is square from napkin holders, to plates, to coffee cups. They proudly serve local seafood "smoked, baked and fried," with a wink. But this is above all a warm, welcoming, and merry local joint, with families of all sizes and people from all walks of life. No one seems to mind the wait, and no wonder: the food is worth it. Dig into fried calamari, first-rate meatloaf with mashed potatoes, pasta with shrimp and Key lime butter sauce or pecan-crusted grouper with roasted yellow pepper-crab sauce. For dessert, there's chocolate fondue or carrot cake so good you'll want to shout---or at least wait in line again tomorrow.
