Habana Cafe Description:
The compact exterior of Habana Café doesn't hint to the expansive, twinkling interior that gives diners a sense of the Caribbean at night. There are lots of murals on the walls and high ceilings painted with simulated clouds. The second floor features local artists, original Audubon prints, and the dramatic seating arrangement wraps around and peers down on the main dining room. Latin and Cuban CDs are usually playing and don't be surprised if guests jump to their feet and start dancing spontaneously. The food draws almost as much attention. One very traditional dish is the pork roasted and seasoned with garlic, oregano, white wine and laurel leaves, topped with grilled onions. We also recommend the house picadillo and drunken shrimp. Everything from the kitchen is house-made and supervised by Josefa Gonzalez-Hastings, the owner's wife.
