Osaka Description:
The signage says Japanese, but this small restaurant has a few surprises for its customers---the principal one being that in addition to the traditional Japanese and sushi selections, there's a small but respectable Thai menu as well. The sushi choices come raw or cooked and range from squid to sea urchin. Lunch specials emphasize tuna and vegetables while the main menu has an eclectic array of choices (and trendy names) like Arizona (yellowtail tuna, scallions and smelt roe) and Alaska (cooked salmon skin and crab cucumber). There are plenty of tempura and teriyaki selections as well. The Thai selections offer more seafood and spices---especially spices; we suggest the red curry. The lunch and dinner menus also include plenty of pork, beef and chicken choices, served with rice, noodles or curry. A few of the combination selections come with cutesy names like Two Sexy Girls (grilled jumbo shrimp and chicken topped with a sauce of choice and steamed vegetables). For a quick pick-me-up, opt for the sweet Thai coffee.
