Akershus Description:
This Norwegian restaurant is a Princess Storybook Character Dining hot-spot, with the Disney princesses on hand for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is traditional American cuisine, but lunch and dinner both start with a koltbord (cold table) followed by hot dishes delivered from the kitchen. Young Norwegians make up the waitstaff---they're at Disney for a yearlong World Fellowship Program, so it's fun making conversation while you nibble at meat and cheeses, shrimp and salads from the koltbord. The unusual breads are favorites---soft, sweet lefse flatbread, sourdough-oregano, orange-walnut and seven grain. Hot dishes include mustard-glazed seared salmon and traditional kjottkake, ground beef and pork dumplings with mashed potatoes, vegetables and lingonberry sauce. Grown-ups can have a Carlsberg draft beer or a fancy cocktail. The best dessert is the traditional sweet rice cream with strawberries.
