Try My Thai and Sushi Too! Description:
Try My Thai has long been a favorite in Hollywood. Originally located at 2003 Harrison Street, they have moved a block east to 1902 Harrison Street, and added sushi. But, the cuisine still reflects Tai's sense of humor as well as a deft touch with spice and flavor.
Try unique dishes such as the "Evil Jungle Princess," with thin slices of meat in a savory coconut-milk sauce, and "Sweet Basil James," meat or chicken sautéed with fresh Thai basil, scallions, bell peppers and bamboo shoots. Or, for something even more exotic, "A Fish Called Wanda," deep-fried snapper in wine sauce, or the spicy "Holy Cow," made with sliced beef sautéed in garlic, Thai basil and chili. You can also go with traditional Panang or Gang curry dishes, Pad Thai and "Cashew for You." Vegetarian dishes are available.
The green, green grasses of Thailand are translated to Try My Thai via green, green décor and a menu of traditional Thai dishes with contemporary twists and funny names. The café's moniker is playful, too, a tie-in to the necktie-themed artwork on the walls. Shrimp-in-a-blanket is a tasty take on the cocktail frankfurter treat; ugly duckling brings a duck prettily sauced with garlic and vinegar; foster care alligator finds tender gator meat in chili sauce---it's one of the few really spicy dishes here, so if you like your foods hot you'd better request it. Mee krob and shrimp satay aren't given wacky titles, but are menu mainstays and are alone worth the trip.
