Rusty's Bistro Description:
The upmarket style of this resort hotel carries over to Rusty Bistro's décor and the kitchen provides a creative, often-changing menu. It doesn't hurt that the restaurant and the resort are just steps from the Gulf of Mexico. Rusty's serves a full breakfast buffet with daily specials, including breakfast pizzas, omelets made to order, crêpes, breakfast sandwiches and much more. Most popular is the nightly prime rib buffet with an assortment of chef-chosen sides along with soups, salads, potatoes, rice, pasta, vegetables and fresh fruit. On Saturdays the prime rib accompaniments focus on seafood selections. But the buffet is only one option. Ordering off the menu provides patrons with some nice, if standard, appetizers such as baked Brie (lent panache by a macadamia nut crust, mixed berry marmalade and pumpernickel croutons) and Maine lobster ravioli. Entrées tend to be more creative. Ahi comes with a citrus-herb rub, field greens, mango vinaigrette and peanuts while the shrimp-and-crab-stuffed salmon features a zingy blood orange hollandaise and an unusual basmati-quinoa blend. Another fresh surprise is the red curry trout, offered with gingered paella and a mango butter sauce.
